Lileks.com has put up a terrific archive of old photographs of 'pre-mall downtowns.'
Especially interesting (to me) is the picture of Downtown Indianapolis circa 1959. I spent many an evening in Indy, searching for good restaurants, during an assignment to central Indiana in 1997.
