Today I made an excursion to Skärholmens Loppmarknad -- the Flea Market in Skärholmen. This is one of the largest flea markets in Stockholm, open 7 days a week and offering everything from furniture to clothing to used cell phone batteries.
Skärholmen itself is one of the suburbs built during the 1960's and 1970's miljonproket, to provide housing to the growing population that statisticians predicted. Long story short, that boom never happened and most of these "new towns" now have a high proportion of immigrants. This makes them in a way more interesting than the center-city: in Skärholmen Centrum you can find great Middle Eastern markets with Halal meat and imported olives, for example.
