Wow, I think this belongs in the "there is such a thing as bad publicity" department. Front page of the Washington Post:
I'm still using my vintage Series 1 Tivo, so I don't have to worry about such advanced features, or how hard they are to use. Unfortunately, my hardware has far outlasted how long I thought it would survive, rendering my decision to not get the 'lifetime' subscription service on my box about as wise as passing up Microsoft stock at $5. Despite my having broken open the case to install an Ethernet card, the thing keeps chugging along (and billing me $13/month.)
