Ellensburg & Cle Elum

On Saturday I drove out on I-90 through the Snoqualmie Pass to get inland enough to avoid the rainstorms that were pounding Seattle.

The towns off of the highway, including Ellensburg and Cle Elum, are surrounded by farmland, the Yakima River and various wildlife enjoying lunch on the hillsides:

With me on the trip was a rented Canon 300mm lens, which resulted in me taking far, far too many close-up pictures of insects:

Among the other wildlife we saw was a California Quail

Though the storms stayed far enough west to avoid drenching the convertible, the sky was pretty dramatic at certain times. Here's a view on the way towards Umptanum Road:
