Epson Print Academy 2009, Vancouver

Epson Print Academy
Inspecting a print from an Epson 2880

I headed up to Vancouver this weekend to take part in a one-day seminar given by Epson, makers of high-end inkjet printers for digital photography. Highlights included eating at Bin 942:

…and, to my complete shock, winning the raffle for the Stylus Pro 4880. This is a complete beast of a printer, all two thousand dollars’ worth, and Epson was giving away one model at each North American seminar. Complete and utter luck that I ended up with it.

The big challenge is to figure out where to put it — although it looks (in pictures with no reference object for scale) like a conventional inkjet printer, you really have no sense of the size of it until one lands at your house, and you can’t even get it through the door without removing the wooden pallet attached to the bottom:

Setup and assembly will have to wait until I get back from Europe at the end of the summer, when hopefully I’ll have some nice pictures to print out on it.

More pictures from Vancouver — including the neat new extension to the convention center, above — are on my own site and on Flickr.
