For the culminating workshop in the 14-week Culture Analytics program at the Institute for Pure & Applied Mathematics, we headed out to the mountains of San Bernadino County. Our destination was a UCLA retreat at Lake Arrowhead dating from the 1940s. It’s an all-inclusive experience, with each meal served at communal tables:
We spent a great deal of time listening to talks, working on white papers for the NSF, and hacking on projects together:
Just outside the buildings were the grounds with tennis courts, a pool, and expansive lawns:
