I had the chance to travel to Finland recently, to deliver a talk at the 2016 LIBER conference in Helsinki.
We took a side trip to Tuusula Lake to visit the homes of composer Jean Sibelius and artist Pekka Halonen. This kantele, the Finnish national instrument, was in Halonen’s wooden house:
And of course no trip to Finland would be complete without salt licorice, in this case as part of a promotion the Magnum ice cream bar company was running to create a desert with custom toppings:
